Kansas State University nutrition professor, Mark Haub,
has lost 26 pounds in 10 weeks with his Twinkie diet. Starting at 201 pounds, Haub lost 12.9% of his total weight. If he had competed in the
original Thinspiration XXL competition, Haub would have come in second! Insert scientific conclusion here.
As much as I love junk food I find the twinkie diet disturbing on many levels. He lost weight purely on halving his caloric intake as Doc Cook did, that the other half just happened to be junk food and vegetables is actually irrelevant and proves nothing.
ReplyDeleteThe twinkies could have been smaller cuts of steak, ice cream, or curried cow tongue to the same result.
He wasn't being healthier he just proved what we already know that controlling your portion size will let you drop some flabby baggage.
Evidently I'm missing the point. I'm not sure what he was trying to prove here.
Though I do want to go get some little debbie cakes now. I question his objectivity in this "research" and wonder if it's just an example subterfuge advertising. "Get healthy, lose weight, eat Twinkies".
Lets pour gravy on them.
Yep. Reducing caloric intake is one thing, but doing it healthily is quite another, and in this respect, he failed. Kudos to him for the will power it does take to make such a significant change in one's diet, but again, he could have replaced the twinkies with veggies or other healthier options.
